Well, we are home from our long weekend (it wasn't long enough, let me tell you!) Saturday was a day at the beach (literally) but I don't have many pics of that day b/c my camera decided to die...actually it was the batteries (Note to Dad: Thanks for the Lithium, they are still fully charged!). We got there around 10 (not at 8:30AM when I was all ready to go :) ) The Ocean was GREAT...very low waves and not rough at all, in fact we went out much farther than we usually would have. Kelsey was practicing diving under the waves, and let me tell you, she is pretty good....well as good as she can be when I,or my Dad was holding her arm. Lucky for her it was mostly my Dad...I have no sense of balance in the ocean...at one point I'm pretty sure all everyone could see was my left leg~straight up in the air...the rest of me under a wave :).
Oh and I a learned lesson that day... Tan Accelerator is Devil Juice. I am so not kidding. I was sitting on the beach and looked in Mom's beach bag for my lip balm (gotta protect your lips in the sun too yanno!) And I come across this pretty little bottle of Tan Accelerator. Now in the good old days, I'd have lathered myself up in Crisco if it meant a great tan, these days I'm a little more leery, and more skin conscious; but being in the Sun all morning I think to myself "Why not? You have a base tan...go for it". Boy when a bottle reads Accelerator...they mean it! I managed to burn (on top of tan ugh!) my face, my chest, and my arms...but NOT my neck. A nice patch of WHITE between red. Uh- huh. Ha ha...Are we done laughing now?
Sunday was uneventful....Mom and I went shopping. Well uneventful for you reading this, but have you ever seen my mom at Old Navy when there is a good sale? Very eventful for me, but not eventful enough to talk about. The kids now have plenty of back to school clothes.
Monday we were back at the beach
....the water was warmer, but rougher than Sunday (Thank you tropical storm Fay). I lathered the kids (and myself) up in SPF 50 (Mama ain't playin' today!)
Rob built castles and Sand Crab forts with the kids
Kels practiced some more diving, Colin held onto Rob's neck for dear life...and I went down again...twice. The first time a wave caught me and the second...well I was laughing so darn hard I couldn't even get back up and got smacked in the face again and wound up crashing into my Dad's legs (thanks for the stop!).
Kels also decided she HAD to be buried in the sand:
Colin FINALLY lost his (5th) tooth...This one has been loose for over 2 months and he wouldn't pull it out ( eye tooth isn't worth as much as the front teeth for the Tooth Fairy). He was eating a hot dog and it came out...Luckily he didn't swallow it (the tooth)
While Dad and Kels were in the Ocean the frantically started pointing...I thought they were pointing towards dolphins (yes you see them from time to time) but now after the sound got closer I realized what they were pointing to:
My Boys took a break (I love this picture)
Not much Monday night...a great dinner at Texas Roadhouse (thanks Mom & Dad). Ah no...there IS something....Mom learned a valuable lesson (much like mine and the tan accelerator!) Don't Sit between Rob and Dad when they get engrossed in a game of "punch buggy". We took Dad's truck to dinner so I sat in the back of the cab with the kids and Mom sat between Rob and Dad. The punches were flying until Dad went to block one of Rob's and Rob caught his elbow...Funny for all of us...not so much for Rob :)
You were looking at my white neck, weren't you?

Sounds like a great weekend! Now, Shell, have you realllly learned your lesson? Whose to say that next year you see that little bottle peering at you and think, "hmm, I have a BETTER base than I had last year. Maybe a little won't hurt?" Ahh, a thought to ponder!
Oh yah! Thanks for the reminder about Old Navy. I'm off to check out those sales today!!!
