Boys and their (Daddy's) toys....

This weekend Rob decided Colin would learn how to use the drill. After all~he is 6, sure it's time (I wish I could properly convey complete and utter sarcasm in print). Although I do have to admit, He caught on FAST and was drilling screws and backing them out of a piece of 2x4 pretty darn quick.

We decide today is beautiful, let's do some yard work and get the lawn mowed...I on my riding mower and Rob with the push (seriously I just read that out loud like It Twas the Night Before Christmas; but I digress). Kels playing in the yard and Colin on the deck (at this point) just sitting. 1 loop around the yard and I look to my left to see Colin with the drill in his hand....Unsupervised..first big no no... Second, I DON'T see the practice 2x4. OH Sh*t...knowing my son, I know this isn't going to be good.

To a 6 year old just learning how to use a drill...that deck must have looked like PARADISE. There is my son, face full of joy trying to BACK THE DECK SCREWS OUT!

So best I can, in the calmest manner possible, I explain why that isn't a good idea, all the while stifling my laughter because...well, let's face it.....It's funny. Not a funny as Kelsey running into the screen door mid-air last night (picture a leap gracefully executed, but cut short because the ballerina didn't see a closed screen door), but I'm not allowed to tell you about that event.

ROFLMAO! OMG, I have tears in my eyes hearing every word of sarcasm knowing that could happen just as easily in this house, IF, it hasn't already. You know, I am the last to know much of what happens around here!

And Shell, what were you thinking putting that door in Kels' way? Hee hee hee!

Oh my. Too, too, too funny!

Shell, I hope you're still reading the comments to his post because I want to tell you thank you for your phone calls during the 3-Day. The first one made me cry; the second made me bust out laughing. Sadly, I never got to do Rocky's steps, but I did take a picture of them. Your calls were such a fun surprise -- thanks for being so thoughtful. And Christy, thanks for introducing us.
