Okay, Okay, who am I kidding....I'll take any reason to host a party!
My friend Kim and I have been in planning mode on this this for a year.
Well, sort of.
See last Halloween we were sitting on the front porch after most of the trick or treating was done. Getting our drink on and both thought ,"Wouldn't it be GREAT to have a Halloween party next year?!" and we animatedly talked about it some more, and drank some more, and I think we even told Rob ,"We're having a party next Halloween!".
And then the idea was put away until last month. Then the mad scramble to plan began... I think it all came together FABULOUSLY, if I do say so myself.
There were way more decorations than this and about 3 dozen balloons....I'm not sure how I missed taking pictures of everything... Here is some of it
The bathroom was my favorite room (decoration wise!) And yes, was that color- I changed out the plain ol white bulbs to red and wow! :
We even had a giant movie screen blown up in the back yard which was going to show Halloween movies but the kids were having way to much fun on the trampoline at the time so the movie got switched to Thor. which all the Husbands and Dads seemed to enjoy
There was plenty of food....which there still is...anyone hungry?!
On the menu:
Witch's Fingers
Pumpkin Bombs
Ghost S'mores
Flying Monkey Poo
Zombie Eyes
Mummy Wraps
Roasted Roaches
Pumpkin Cups
Used bandages
Drunken Gummies (for the adults only, thank you very much!)
and witch's hats and brooms that Kristina made- they went with her Fabulous witch and Cameron's flying monkey costume PERFECTLY!!)
For entertainment, the biggest hit of the night by far was the doughnut eating contest.
Someone (in this case TJ) holds a stick with 2 doughnuts tied to it and hung by a string The kids paired up and with their hands behind their backs- had to eat the doughnut. I think the parents had as good a time watching as the kids did eating!
The second favorite was apple bobbing...and I think that was just because kids love any excuse to get soaking wet....
I'm happy to say I think everyone had a good time. Kelsey's friends were STILL talking about the party when I saw them at school Monday Morning so I will take that as a plus!
And me? Well I always said I was born in the wrong era and wanted to be a 50's mom. After one night of it...I'm pretty happy to be a 2000's Mom!
