All Hail Uncle Scott ?
Colin's class had an Army Ranger visit school. The class made him a big thank you card and he talked to all of the second grade and it was a very cool experience.Colin even told his teacher (several times) that his Uncle Scott is a Marine. He brought in pictures of him and some helicopters. Colin also informed the class he is at sea right now (In case you didn't know, Scott is currently on the USS Nassau).
Kelsey's guidance class was talking about "Courage" (not doing a stunt courage, but someone who shows confidence and doesn't follow the crowd so to speak). Each student had to name someone who shows courage, and then they voted on the most courageous.
Uncle Scott beat out Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, and James's Uncle James (who was apparently also military but deceased) to be named the most courageous.
I was also informed last night Kelsey wants to be a Marine when she grows up. Not a ballerina. Not a teacher. Not a Nurse. Not even a Britney Spears back-up dancer. A Marine.
There is no doubt my kids love their Uncle Scott. And for the record? I think he is pretty great too (just like his big Sister).

Ohhhhhh, that is too sweet. I bet your brother will be so happy when he reads this. It is wonderful that he and his service have made such an impact on his niece and nephew and apparently Kelsey's class!
Love,
Julie
That is awesome!! At least children of this day of age can be proud of our soliders near and far. Shell, you raised them the right way even if they worship the ground Uncle Scott walks on especially when they all put theirs lives on the line for us every day. Eileen
Hi Shell,
That's so nice that they had a chance to talk about their Uncle Scott at school, to share how proud they are of him. It is also really good that the classes discuss these topics, so that the kids can connect real people that they know to historical figures.
We are all so proud of Scott.
Best wishes,
Elaine
