Our Mini Vacation adventure

So after my parents having the kids for 2 weeks and Rob stopping me countless times from going to get them (It's not that I don't trust my parents, I just REALLY missed the munchkins after a week), We went to my parents for a mini vacation. Just a nice little 6 day break. We left here on Thursday the 3rd on our way to Hampstead- a three and a half to four hour drive...If you're Rob...3 hours and 20 minutes if you're me;) . I drove b/c Rob wasn't feeling so great, yay, we'll make good time! About half way there Rob starts feeling really sick...You could see it just looking at him. Now this is a man who doesn't even like to go to the Dr so when he asked me where the hospital as by my mom's I freaked. I called my mom to find out..She didn't want to send us to Cape Fear Hospital...I don't care that the town is called Cape Fear, but did you have to name the hospital that just b/c it's located there?! So off to New Hanover Medical we went. This only after I argued with Rob we were going right there and not stopping at my mom's to see the kids first (always a Daddy first!). To make a long story short, They did all the tests above and beyond and he is okay, we don't know exactly what happened, but after they got his BP down to semi normal, and gave him a saline drip and Oxygen, he started to feel better. not great- still had a fever and high BP, but better than he was. I got the pleasure of ripping all his little EKG and monitor pads off his skin...I didn't go fast :) And we left with a little heart shape patch shaved into Rob's chest (pads need to stick to skin after all).

So when it was all said and done on Thursday we got to my parents house around 1 AM. My 3 hour 20 minute drive turned into a 8.5 hour adventure.

Happy 4th of July! We went to my Brother and sister in law's for the 3rd year in a row and had a great time...I think Scott's hot wings cured Rob b/c let me tell you, He was dragging butt (not that I didn't expect him to) until we got there, and after those (VERY VERY) hot wings..he was a new man. The kids played with their cousin Jersey (an 80 pound Rottie) all night, and Colin eventually overcame is fear of her (he's always a little scared of her at first...she's huge compared to him) Can you tell he was a little scared?

The rest of the week we tried to get to the beach as much as possible. Kelsey practiced her Surfer Girl image and Boogie boarded every day.

Colin on the other hand, after taking a wipeout last summer, decided to not board so much as stand on it and let my mom (She is next to him) try and catch him when a the break of a wave picked him up and moved him a few feet.

It's just not a day at the beach for us unless Rob plays in the sand. (See the shaved patch from the EKG pad? :p)

At the end of our little trip, Hampstead managed to get more rain in one shot then they've had my Dad said in the last 3 years. This is the side of the house where there is a little gully that runs from the front of the house all the way around to a retaining pond on the back side of the neighborhood. You can see how fast the rain fell... it's above Rob and Scott's ankles (they're both over 6 feet tall). And added note: It was still thunder and lightening out while they were out "exploring the water". I think there was even talk of breaking out the kids boogie boards and riding the stream.

We've been home since Tues night and I have just 1 question....Mom when do you want the kids back?

Way to go! That look on Colin's face is absolutely priceless!!! One to blow up, frame and hang in the entry way when he starts to date.

Glad Rob is okay. And yes, I can see the little heart shaped waxed skin on his chest, too funny!
