I save containers. I don't know why. I always think I will find a use for them and sometimes I do (most times I don't and wind up throwing them away after they collect just the right amount of dust).
Among my favorites are the General Mills latte tins. I just love their little size and think they will come in handy someday.

Well, part of someday (what is halfway to someday?) I still don't have a use for them, but did decorate them (I just wrapped scrap paper completely around them then used another paper pattern on the front~ quick and easy!).
Rob is out on a call, the kids are doing their own thing, the house is clean, and I am bored. SO this is what happens when Shell gets bored- I create a project. Now that they are decorated, what the heck can I use them for?

No, no, just kidding. I also think they would make great teacher gifts. If you wanted to do more than just candy, you could put in some candy and a $5 gift card to Starbucks or something.
And don't worry, Shell..you aren't alone. I save everything thinking I might be able to repurpose it!!
